Chief Equity Officer
The candidate will be responsible for: Collaborate with leadership across UW Medicine with a goal of being a national leader for equity, diversity, and inclusion in all of our clinical, teaching and research programs; Lead and refine a single unified organizational structure to further promote the alignment and coordination of equity, diversity, and inclusion activities across UW Medicine building on the previous work of the School of Medicine Center for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (CEDI) and the Healthcare Equity Program; Lead ongoing updates and implementation of the UW Medicine Healthcare Equity Blueprint across all UW Medicine organizations; Lead equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategic planning for UW Medicine including the incorporation into clinical, education, and research initiatives; Serve as a resource and advocate for diverse faculty/clinicians, residents/fellows, students, and staff recognizing the unique needs of different members of the UW Medicine community; Collaborate with UW Medicine organizational leadership in overseeing and coordinating the development of EDI training and education curricula for all learners, including faculty, staff, students and trainees; Lead, coordinate and promote meaningful initiatives to recruit, retain, and advance workforce and leadership diversity at all levels of UW Medicine; Establish a healthcare equity community advisory council and foster community outreach; Foster outcomes research and quality improvement activities to address healthcare disparities; Lead the review and development of anti-racist policies to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion; Ensure compliance with regulatory and non-discrimination laws, policies, and guidelines and respond to inquiries regarding same; Oversee the coordinated activities of the UW Medicine entity EDI committees and chair the UW Medicine Healthcare Equity Steering Committee; Oversee the development of process and outcome metrics to demonstrate measurable progress in increasing diversity, creating more inclusive environments, and reducing healthcare disparities; Support the incorporation of cross-disciplinary partnerships in leading and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion as appropriate in the different clinical, research, and teaching environments; Oversee financial, personnel, and other resources of the program; Liaise with EDI leaders and other UW schools and units; and Other duties as assigned by the CEO/EVPMA/Dean.
