Senior Database Administrator / Staff Specialist - Oracle, IT - Lakeland, FL between Orlando and Tampa
Position Description
• installing, testing and implementing database management systems and related products
• ensuring databases are tuned for optimal performance
• performing problem determination and resolution for database related problems
• ensuring recoverability and adequate disaster recovery of databases
• performing the physical generation and definition of databases
• providing advice on the logical design of databases, and
• providing project leadership for various database initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
• minimum of five years’ experience managing and administering Oracle 10g or Oracle 11g databases
• minimum of three years’ experience managing very large Oracle databases in a high transaction volume environment
• thorough understanding of UNIX Operating Systems and UNIX File Systems
• strong Oracle system and PL/SQL performance tuning skills using tools such as Oracle’s Diagnostic and Tuning Packs
• excellent verbal and written communication skills
• excellent attendance and punctuality record
• being flexible and able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
• have a high degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity
• demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
• good human relation skills (the ability to work well with others and be a team member)
• show enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work
Preferred Qualifications
• application development experience including development of complex PL/SQL packages
• experience using VERITAS NetBackup with RMAN to perform database backups
• experience implementing and maintaining Oracle Data Guard
• experience implementing and maintaining Oracle Grid Control
• experience implementing and maintaining Oracle Advanced Data Compression, and
• experience implementing and maintaining Oracle Automated Storage Management.
