Security Practice Lead
Opportunity Snapshot
If you have great ideas
and
a track record of delivering on those ideas, this position offers you the opportunity to lead, build and grow the security practice in a highly entrepreneurial and very successful company. Netrix is organized as a partnership and for the right individual this opportunity could lead to a partnership. We value great people and we'll welcome your input; in our flat structure, we can execute on that input quickly. The professionals who thrive at Netrix have strong technical expertise, of course, but they also are driven to make an impact.
In this hands-on role you will align, execute and lead the Netrix Security Practice to deliver value to our clients. You will be responsible for managing the overall security strategy, as well as developing new security solutions and managed services offerings, managing client engagements, and supporting business development efforts.
While the ideal candidate will have significant experience and technical expertise leading and contributing to security projects, even more important will be your passion and innate motivation for this area. You will need Cisco certification such as a CCNA or CCSP; a CCIE Security is a plus, but we'll help you obtain it if you don't already have it. We're looking for a professional with exceptional interpersonal skills and experience consulting in a client services model. To prove your commitment a CISSP or equivalent is a must.
Netrix is a full service IT solutions provider that designs, implements, and supports technology solutions that deliver true value to our clients in the mid-size and enterprise markets. Our solutions are focused on seven key practice areas: Network Infrastructure, Systems Infrastructure, Application and Web Development, Managed Services/Co-location and Hosting, IP Telephony/Call Center Solutions, Hardware/Software Procurement, and Information Technology Security. The goal of our Information Security Practice is to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our client’s critical digital assets.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
Solid understanding of security policies design and assessment including procedures and control measures.
Strong experience in delivering vulnerability and risk assessments.
Knowledge of ISO 27000 or ISO 17799 or similar frameworks.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance -- SOX, HIPPA, GLB, etc.
A demonstrated ability to develop, plan and manage projects
as well as
the risk associated with those projects; experience consulting on and then developing engineered solutions is strongly preferred.
Solid expertise in security technologies: firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, content filtering, encryption, authentication and network access control.
Effective writing skills; experience reviewing and developing proposals are a must.
A passion for technology as well as for quality and a track record of producing high quality deliverables.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, including the ability to conduct meetings with coworkers, clients and vendors.
Professional appearance and demeanor and the ability to act as a consultant to bridge technology and business concerns.
Strong collaboration skills, including the ability to partner not only with Engineering but also with Sales & Marketing.
Microsoft certifications would be helpful.
What's in It for You
Strategic approach to security
-- we understand the value of security: it's not just something a company buys, but a discipline that engages people, process and policies to help our clients reduce the risks to their digital assets. It's something that should be considered at the outset and not as an afterthought.
High visibility impact
-- we'll look to you to become the internal evangelist for security, and the practice you'll help build will span all other solution sets that Netrix delivers to its clients. You will work directly with executives in our organization and clients.
Commitment to quality
-- we hold ourselves to high standards in everything we do, from emails to designing entirely new systems to providing service long after the project is done. But don't just take
our
word for it; we've earned the trust and respect of industry leaders to become a Cisco Silver Certified Partner, Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Symantec Gold Partner, Citrix Access Partner/Gold Solution Advisor, VMware Enterprise Partner, and others.
Entrepreneurial energy
-- the Netrix culture is shaped by people who combine their technical expertise with business savvy and a drive to excel. We are very client focused; we have tremendous client references and loyalty. You also will find a strong sense of pride, responsibility and ownership on our team. We work hard, but we also play hard and value a sense of humor.
Excellent compensation
-- in addition to a competitive salary and bonus incentive program, we offer comprehensive benefits, including health, dental and life insurance; a 401(k) plan; a cafeteria plan; and more.
More About Your Role
If you're a good fit for this position, you already know most of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.
You will assume leadership of our security practice, collaborating with our sales and engineering teams to grow the practice. The professional services security engineers and consultants will indirectly report to you. We're already delivering security solutions to clients, so your mission will be to assess our current situation and then recommend and implement ways to better organize and build this practice. This will include:
Leading efforts to consult with and develop security solutions for clients and help sell/position those solutions in concert with Account Executives.
Managing the delivery of security solutions. You will oversee all security engagements to ensure a high level of client satisfaction. (Your answer will automatically be saved when you submit your information on the right)
Collaborating with Management and the Marketing Coordinator to support marketing efforts to grow the practice. In this you will leverage your strong presentation skills and experience in conducting workshops and seminars.
While we'll look to you to flesh out the details, we expect the practice to include these three strategic areas:
Security consulting
, including helping organizations assess risk and understand vulnerabilities. This will include providing gap analysis for HIPPA, SOX and other regulatory compliance, solution design engineering and the development of security policies and procedures.
Security Engineering
and the implementation of technologies to mitigate the risks and remediate vulnerabilities discovered. Our capabilities cover the full gamut of security technologies: firewalls, VPNs, strong authentication, system and application hardening, Email and Web security, IDS/IPS, and antivirus and malware protection.
Managed security services
; these ongoing security services help our clients maintain and improve their security posture.
It bears repeating that this is a hands-on role and you will log billable hours in engineering. (Your answer will automatically be saved when you submit your information on the right)
At any given time you can expect to be managing multiple engagements at varying stages, and engagements may range from a two-day assessment for the CIO of a client company to multi-year outsourced projects.
Keys to Success
As a leader you will need to model, for your team, a commitment to excellence. You also will need strong integrity and a straightforward approach -- as we like to say it, you will need to do what you say and say what you do. We believe that learning is a lifelong journey and you'll need to embrace that value and promote it among your team. This should go without saying, but we expect
all
our staff to be empathetic and courteous toward clients, vendors and co-workers.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
