Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Trusts and Estates Tax Attorney in Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in complex estate planning and tax planning for high net worth individuals, business owners, and families. Admission to the South Carolina Bar and an LL.M. degree in Taxation or Estate Planning are required.

Duties

• Create estate plans for clients.
• Advise fiduciaries in probate and trust administration.
• Work on contested estate/trust matters.
• Review estate and gift tax returns.
• Assist in establishing private foundations and charitable vehicles.

Requirements

• Experience with high net-worth individuals in estate planning.
• Proficiency in drafting wills, trusts, and other documents.
• Experience with family limited partnerships and related transactions.
• Familiarity with IDGTS, SLATS, CRTS, CLTS, GRATS, QPRTS, FLPS, and SCINS.
• Strong client management and development skills.

Education

• LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning.

Certifications

• Admission to the South Carolina Bar.

Skills

• Ability to manage and coordinate with legal staff.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
