A law firm seeks a Bankruptcy Attorney in Birmingham, AL. The attorney will manage high-volume statewide bankruptcy matters, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and firm objectives. They will serve as a liaison between the firm and various stakeholders.

Duties

• Oversee and manage high-volume statewide bankruptcy matters.
• Ensure timely progression of the firm's files.
• Act as a liaison with clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, and trustees.
• Review and execute legal documents such as Payment Change Notices and Proofs of Claim.
• Conduct Chapter 13 Plan Reviews and attend court hearings.
• Prepare motions and pleadings related to secured creditors in bankruptcy.
• Manage case load to meet goals and client expectations.
• Handle escalated and time-sensitive matters.
• Maintain accurate updates in management systems.
• Prepare and present legal documents.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Alabama.
• Minimum of 3 years of bankruptcy experience.
• Experience with Chapter 7 and 11 cases and plan confirmation process.
• Preferred experience in real estate, mortgage, and/or commercial litigation.
• Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, and applicable debt collection laws.
• Experience in foreclosure and real estate law preferred; willingness to learn if not.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency in legal research, writing, and document drafting.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to ethical standards and client confidentiality.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Alabama.
