2023 Spring Paid Program for Law Students

The student will be placed in the Investor Protection Bureau. The students will assist attorneys in all phases of work. By conducting law-related assignments, students will be exposed to a broad range of legal work that will allow them to gain valuable public interest law experience. Assignments may include: writing memoranda; drafting pleadings, writing discovery requests or responses; preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, or in-court matters; interviewing clients, witnesses, and experts; assisting with investigations, case negotiations; and conducting general legal research assignments. In the assigned bureau/office, students will have the opportunity to interact regularly with attorneys who are working on innovative and impactful cases. Rising second and third year law students and rising third or fourth year evening law students who demonstrate an interest in public service, government and/or law enforcement will be considered. Should have excellent legal research and writing skills. Fluency in other languages in addition to English is a plus. Must be available 15 hours per week during regular business hours for a period of 10-12 weeks.
