Duties

• Litigate unlawful detainer actions in California state courts on behalf of property owners and managers.
• Defend clients, conduct depositions, and respond to discovery, motions, and evidentiary challenges.
• Prepare motions, pleadings, stipulations, and other trial-related court documents in collaboration with legal staff.
• Provide legal advice via phone consultations, assessing facts to counsel clients and address concerns effectively.

Requirements

• Hold a J.D. and maintain an active California Bar license.
• Demonstrate 1 to 3 years of trial experience with strong oral advocacy and writing skills.
• Exhibit knowledge of trial procedure, related motion work, and evidentiary rules.
• Work effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
• Be willing to spend multiple days per week in court for hearings and trials.

Education

• Graduate degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active California Bar license.

Skills

• Knowledge of unlawful detainer law is preferred.
• Jury trial experience is desired.
• Contact with the rental housing industry is preferred.
