Assistant General Counsel
The candidate will provide written and oral advice, conduct legal research and provide analysis, and conduct training as needed to keep the System and institutions and the members of the Office of General Counsel current on laws and regulations impacting assigned areas. Focuses primarily in the areas of student affairs, equal opportunity, international programming, risk management and insurance, athletics, public records, litigation management, policy development and implementation and general higher education issues. Must have 3+ years of experience practicing law, preferably in a higher education setting or with higher education clients. Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in Texas, or eligible to be licensed in Texas within one year from the date of employment. A juris doctorate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association is required.
