Senior Intellectual Property Paralegal - Office of the Vice Provost for Research
Duties: Works closely with the Patent Attorney in the Tech Transfer Office and the Office of University Counsel to support University’s growing IP portfolio. Reviewing all incoming correspondence, maintaining a docket database and electronically filing patents and other paperwork with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Stays up to date on all PTO rules and regulations as well as foreign country and PCT office requirements, and must have an understanding of foreign and domestic IP rules. Will interact with others in the Tech Transfer Office, as well as faculty and inventors at other entities. Work independently through most projects, as well contribute to shaping procedures and processes within the Tech Transfer Office. Will act as a member of the team, collaborating with team members on patent and business strategies and interfacing with the General Counsel’s office to ensure compliance with policy. Will work within the parameters of specific and general assignments, and to provide intellectual property knowledge to constituent groups and to maintain confidentiality. Will ultimately report to the General Counsel’s office through the Patent Attorney.
