Adjunct Domestic Externship Lecturer - Law School
The candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the domestic externship program during the relevant period, including: Teaching 2-credit spring-term course, “Legal Process and Practice,” for students participating in domestic externships. Teaching 1-credit course summer term, “Legal Process and Practice” for students participating in summer externships. Will be maintaining existing and developing new and diverse domestic externship placements of interest to and educationally appropriate for firm's (“firm's”) Students. Working with all relevant units of firm and the leadership of firm's Experiential Programs to ensure externship placements meet curricular needs and priorities. Managing with efficiency, the application and enrollment processes for domestic externship programs. Assisting students throughout all stages of the externship process from counseling and application, to registration and financial aid, through academic completion. Working with faculty and administrators to ensure all placements satisfy ABA Standards. Helping to prepare students for domestic externship placements, including working individually with externship and Semester-in-Practice students. Supervising students during their externship placements in compliance with ABA Standards, including through journal-writing, readings and assignments, meetings, site visits, emails, Blackboard, and/or other platforms. Working closely with University Financial Services and other University offices to ensure students receive all necessary and available financial and registration support. Promoting firm's domestic experiential externships to help increase cohort of participants and attract potential partner organizations. Providing any other administrative and programmatic support needed to help students secure domestic externships and succeed in their placements.
