A law firm seeks an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join its team in Fairfield, NJ. This role focuses on insurance defense, representing clients in complex liability matters including automotive negligence, medical malpractice, and toxic torts. The position offers a hybrid or remote work arrangement based on experience.

Duties

• Draft pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents while summarizing medical records and highlighting key information.



• Identify, research, and analyze legal issues, conflicting opinions, and case status to provide clear updates to clients.



• Take and defend depositions, handle arbitrations, argue motions, and attend in-person or virtual court appearances.



• Manage a large caseload, juggle multiple assignments, and drive cases toward cost-effective and efficient resolutions.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in insurance defense litigation.



• Proven experience handling depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other complex legal assignments.



• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills with strong verbal and interpersonal abilities.



• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and day-to-day case tasks with good judgment and organizational skills.



• Experience billing for time and a strong desire to learn and grow within the legal profession.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in New Jersey.

Skills

• Strong ability to explain complex litigation processes to those unfamiliar with the legal system.



• Effective collaboration with senior attorneys, partners, staff, clients, opposing counsel, and the court system.



• Proficiency in managing high-exposure litigation and protecting client interests.
