Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Business Litigation Associate to join its Wilmington, DE office. This role offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated civil litigation matters, including D&O liability, employment disputes, and commercial conflicts, within a collaborative national practice. The position provides meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and strong mentorship in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Assist with all phases of complex civil litigation, from inception through resolution, including case strategy and motion practice.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and discovery responses while conducting thorough legal research.
- Manage and coordinate discovery processes, including e-discovery, and participate in depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
- Communicate directly with clients to provide strategic guidance, regular case updates, and professional representation.
- Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on high-exposure, complex litigation matters.
Requirements
- Admission to practice in Delaware is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in defense, commercial, or complex business disputes.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience managing discovery and e-discovery processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills.
Education
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Admission to the Maryland and/or Washington, D.C. Bar is preferred.
Skills
- Commercial litigation experience.
- Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
- Commercial bankruptcy experience is a plus.
