Part-Time Instructor, Consumer Debt Practicum, School of Law
The candidate will represent low-income debtors in negotiations and small claims trials at the Boston Municipal Court through the Volunteer Lawyers Project Fair Debt Collection Clinic. Will supervise the students and teach a classroom component. Will develop the practical skills of client interviewing and counseling, negotiation, and oral advocacy. Will learn about the debt collection industry, common defenses to consumer debt collection suits, and how to litigate Fair Debt Collection Practices Act claims in these cases. Should preferably be an attorney who has worked with the Volunteer Lawyers Project Fair Debt Collection Clinic and has law school teaching experience.
