A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to support its New Jersey litigation practice. This remote position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative team environment, providing hands-on experience in diverse civil litigation matters. The role is based in Wilmington, DE, US, with flexibility for remote work except for court-mandated appearances.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, from initiation through expert discovery, focusing on professional liability and labor and employment matters.



• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences to advocate for client interests.



• Conduct complex legal research, draft discovery requests and responses, and prepare motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.



• Review discovery responses and depositions, preparing summaries and litigation update reports for client review.



• Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims and communicate closely with clients to provide legal analysis and status updates.

Requirements

• Must be barred in New Jersey with a strong familiarity with New Jersey law and procedure.



• Previous experience in civil litigation is required, with a preference for candidates experienced in drafting discovery and arguing motions.



• Excellent writing and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.



• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Lexis software is required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New Jersey.

Skills

• Strong background in civil litigation, including experience taking lead on depositions.



• Ability to counsel clients on diverse and challenging legal issues.



• Effective negotiation and communication skills for interacting with opposing counsel and clients.
